The sun has set in Jerusalem. It is officially Yom HaShoah, that is Holocaust Remembrance Day. The full name of the day is Yom HaZikaron laShoah ve-laG’vurah, that is Holocaust and Heroism Remembrance Day.
As I walked home, the restaurants were closing up. Places of public entertainment are closed on this day. There are memorial ceremonies all over the country.
Tomorrow, at 10 a.m., the warning sirens will sound for 2 minutes. As shown in the video below, most Israelis stop whatever they are doing — even driving — and stand at attention. (I hope to capture some video by the Old City in the morning.)
The video below is from Maoz Israel and focuses on the heroism part of the full day. (Incidentally, I visited Oskar Schnidler’s grave on Friday. He is buried here in Jerusalem, near the Old City.)
This day starts a string of civil holidays, including Memorial Day, Independence Day and Jerusalem Day. (Click the previous links to see my videos from previous years.)

So, so good to see something from you here. Hoping you can capture something in the Old City tomorrow. Know that we continually pray for you.
Thank you, Necia.
