If you’ve been watching the news at all, you know that there was a bombing in downtown Jerusalem. I can tell you roughly where it happened. The one dead and 39 injured were standing next to a Route 74 bus. I took that route often to and from my room in Abu Tor, to and from the shuk (the outdoor market).
At Justice House of Prayer – El Paso, we pray for Israel every Thursday morning. Last week, the Holy Spirit gave me a prophetic word as I was singing. I jotted some words and the chords I was using.
Today, we’re supposed to pray for the marketplace. The news of the bombing was fresh on my mind, so I interceded for Israel instead. And the Holy Spirit told me to look at last week’s scribblings.
Soon, the words were flowing from my pen. I had to ask the Lord help with the melody, but it’s less about that. The words do have their basis in the Bible: Isaiah 40:27-41 and Isaiah 22:20-24, just to start.
First, a short Hebrew lesson: sh’ma = listen (see Deuternomy 6:4-9); Elayakim is the good steward of Isaiah 22. He is a picture of Messiah. His name means “God will raise up.”
This is meant to be an encouragement to Israel, so feel free to share it.
Listen, Israel. Stand your ground
by Cariño CasasSh’ma, Yisrael
Persevere, sons of Jacob
Stand your ground
Stand your groundWait on the LORD
You must keep running
You will not faint
You will not faintSh’ma, Yisrael
Stand your ground
Hold on to the Land
It’s for your KingBe a good steward
Like Elyakim
Wait on the LORD
You will not faintTake heart, Yisrael
I know it’s been a long time
Your King is coming
