As the sun set in Jerusalem, the mood went from mourning to dancing. Israel has their Memorial Day the day before Independence Day to remember the cost of freedom. Today we have a short history in video by Maoz Israel. It starts with the First Zionist Congress in 1897 and goes through all the political and legal declarations of Israel’s statehood.
Russia has successfully neutralized the United Nations. With its veto in the Security Council, the U.N. will do nothing to save Syrian lives. Who does the U.S. have on its side? Perhaps France, and a few mealy-mouthed Arab dictators — like Saudi Arabia. The duel between the U.S. and Russia went into full swing Thursday, as the G20 met.
Israelis are waiting in lines for hours for government-issued gas masks even as a U.S.-led strike on Syria is in a holding pattern after the UK parliament votes against cooperating. This Friday evening, Orthodox Israelis will be praying earnestly for God’s mercy on our nation. On our southern border, the Muslim Brotherhood and Egypt’s military are battling it out. Christians are under violent persecution by the Brotherhood. But at least Cairo is 250 miles away.
