Last week the Egypt military leadership decided to forcibly remove Muslim Brotherhood protestors that had been camped out. The operation turned into a battle that continues to rage. Both sides are seemingly digging in.

Then, in the midst of all this, dozens of churches were attacked. When Muslim Brotherhood-backed President Mohamed Morsi was removed from power in July, some of his supporters retaliated against Egyptian Copts. Now that the military has moved against the Brotherhood, once again some are retaliating against the Christians again.

A contact in Egypt sends the following analysis and prayer requests:

  • Whereas the conflict was meant to be a fight against terrorism, it is now being turned to look like a fight for Islam (hence, the onslaught on churches and Copts). Please pray for clarity over those blinded by the enemy in defending such a dark doctrine. Pray for all the deceived being dragged to the slaughter. Please be praying for exposure of all the dark schemes against this nation and the nations around us. Pray that the LORD would lay bare all the schemes of the enemy (Habakkuk 3:14).
  • Pray for army leaders (even the non-believers) to have supernatural insight and eyes to see what’s being woven in the darkness. Pray for the LORD to open their eyes to the focuses of terrorism. Pray for officials to be surrounded by wise counselors that the LORD strategically places for such a time as this as he did Mordecai and Esther.
  • Pray that believers take their stand despite darkness, confusion and intimidation. Pray that we receive the “come up here” call and follow Jesus into where He is and what He wants to show us. Pray that we would seek His heart for His people whom He blesses (Isaiah 19, please be praying for a right perspective for the nations of verses 23-25).

As Egypt flairs, don’t forget the war in Syria that is also causing suffering among the Christians there. Be sure to click on #Church in the embed below for details of how our brothers are suffering in these two nations and beyond.
