Persecution ramps up after Holy Week

The major headlines this week — beside the continuing belligerence from North Korea — involved the persecuted church.

Tension between Christians and Muslims worsens in Egypt. A good story from weeks ago — the saving of Christian children from a Muslim kidnapper — has taken a bad turn, as the children have disappeared.

In the United States, there is a report that Bible-believing Christians are being listed as extremists in Army reserve training. By and large, American Christians have faced no more persecution than an occasional cold shoulder while so many of our brothers abroad suffer for their trust in Jesus Messiah. Reports such as these continue to warn that the days of ease for the true disciples of Jesus are numbered.

Paper.li works a little like a newspaper. It categorizes the news into topics and is interactive. Click a topic on the right-hand column to “flip the page” and see another set of headlines. #Church includes headlines about persecution of the brothers. #Israel as all stories about “the apple of God’s eye.”
