Our Response to crisis: humility before our God

When I was in Kansas City for the Israel Mandate conference at the International House of Prayer, I heard that Texas Gov. Rick Perry was calling for a day of prayer to cry for mercy. Texas is an severe drought, the economy is on the brink of collapse and natural disasters have plagued much of the nation. When I first heard of it, it was still in the planning stages, but not too long after I returned to Texas, the marketing and news stories about Perry’s call to prayer began in earnest.

I am now overseas and cannot attend the Houston event. I know there are some of you who cannot make the trip to east Texas. The event will be broadcast live over the Internet. For those in El Paso, Justice House of Prayer will be hosting a livestream at KSCE Christian Television.

WHAT: The Response webstream — El Pasp

WHERE: KSCE Christian Television Station, 2201 Wyoming (79903)

9 am -4 pm MDT, Saturday, August 6

If you are not in El Paso, visit The Response website for info on how to host your own webstream gathering. Be sure to register so the organizers know you are standing in unity with all other intercessors.

Historic Crisis.

Historic Response.

Historic Breakthrough.

On August 6, the nation will come together at Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas for a solemn gathering of prayer and fasting for our country.

We believe that America is in a state of crisis. Not just politically, financially or morally, but because we are a nation that has not honored God in our successes or humbly called on Him in our struggles.

According to the Bible, the answer to a nation in such crisis is to gather in humility and repentance and ask God to intervene. The Response will be a historic gathering of people from across the nation to pray and fast for America.

A word from Texas Governor Rick Perry:

Fellow Americans,

Right now, America is in crisis: we have been besieged by financial debt, terrorism, and a multitude of natural disasters. As a nation, we must come together and call upon Jesus to guide us through unprecedented struggles, and thank Him for the blessings of freedom we so richly enjoy.

Some problems are beyond our power to solve, and according to the Book of Joel, Chapter 2, this historic hour demands a historic response. Therefore, on August 6, thousands will gather to pray for a historic breakthrough for our country and a renewed sense of moral purpose.

I sincerely hope you’ll join me in Houston on August 6th and take your place in Reliant Stadium with praying people asking God’s forgiveness, wisdom and provision for our state and nation. There is hope for America. It lies in heaven, and we will find it on our knees.

Rick Perry

  1. We will be there! There is a counter group having their own gathering. And “interfaith” gathering, if you will. A woman on the news made the point that it will include all those we have “excluded.” They are trying to make it sound like we won’t allow anyone of another faith into the prayer gathering. I can’t wait to see the protesters. Pictures will follow! Pray for us, as we pray for our nation.
