Just to be safe, I’m not putting names quite yet. But I hope to introduce you to the pastor and his ministry in a future post. He is a bold servant of God standing firm in a dangerous place.
10:30 a.m., March 10: The pastor asks that people continue to pray as his daughter has not yet been released. The intercessors at IHOP.org have been praying since 10 a.m. MT for this situation and will continue to the end of the hour. God hears when His people unite in one voice. Unite with us now, in your prayer closet or put on the live IHOP stream on your computer where you are.
6 p.m., March 9: Continue to pray as the family negotiates the release of their daughter. They expect to have her back tonight.
3 p.m., March 8: The daughter of a prominent pastor in Juarez has been kidnapped. I cannot report more than that. As media has not reported the names of the family, we are not broadcasting them.
The media in Mexico has learned to avoid reporting news in progress. The drug gangs have made clear through actions and threats that media can report on events that have happened in full. However, investigative journalism that uncovers hidden crime or reports on crime in progress puts lives of journalists and victims in danger.
Please pray for the church in Juarez and particularly for this unnamed family. God knows who they are.
At Justice House of Prayer, we have been praying for Juarez out of Psalms 10, 11 and 13.
If you live in the El Paso area, join us on Monday nights at 7 p.m. as we intercede on behalf of the inhabitants of the “Murder Capital of the World.”
I will update as the situation allows.
