Rick Ridings, leader at the prayer house Succat Hallel in Jerusalem sent out an urgent prayer alert via video yesterday as unrest continues to escalate in the region.
Protests calling for the bringing down of the Egyptian president crescendoed today. In preparation for this
“day of wrath,” the Egyptian government disconnected their nation from the Internet (read the story to see how this has shocked some techies).
If you’ve got 12 minutes, please watch the video above. Otherwise, read my summary that follows.
Pray for the brethren in Egypt
First, the houses of prayer in Egypt sent an urgent prayer request to Jerusalem as protests escalate. Tensions were already high after the bombing of a Coptic church in Alexandria on New Year Day.
Pray that God’s will be done in the Middle East nations
The political unrest in Egypt and Lebanon coupled with a military announcement from Iran have made intercessors extra vigilant.
On Jan. 23, Iran announced it would sent a destroyer as part of a fleet headed for the Mediterranean Sea.
Rick Ridings says whether Iranian ships can get into Mediterranean depends on Egypt, who controls the Suez Canal. Ridings says Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak probably would say no. However, if Mubarak is unseated, Muslim Brotherhood — as the leading opposition group — may have aims take power and they may be more inclined to let Iran pass.
Last week saw Lebanon’s government collapse and reemerge lead by Hezbollah, which is backed by Iran.
Ridings shares two visions in the video that inform intercessors how to pray for the region.
Protection from war until it’s time
Last September, Ridings saw two pillars holding up a roof. One pillar was set in Egypt and the other in Turkey. The pillars represent old guard leadership (military, political, business) in those nations. Ridings says these are realistic leaders who have opposed radical Islam and have held the region stable. The roof is a protection from war over all the Middle East, including Israel. Pray that these pillars will not be removed prematurely. One of Satan’s strategies is to attempt to accelerate what God is going to allow, to thwart God’s timing, in an effort to damage what God may be guarding.
Right now, there are five houses of prayer in Turkey and two in Egypt. They are young and growing. Also, there is a move of God among the youth in Egypt. Premature war may stunt or kill these seedlings.
The roof top in the vision also protects Israel. Pray that Israeli leadership would have wisdom as things change quickly around them.
Praying for Mediterranean coast line
Ridings had a vision a year and half ago that pointed to an attack from sea. He saw sharks at the coast and Israel as piece of raw meat. Witches were calling the sharks. In the vision, intercessors cried out for mercy. Then, angels poured the protecting blood of Jesus from horns along the borders of Israel, including the coast line.
Pray for God’s timing and protection over the region.
The promises of Isaiah 19
Isaiah 19 is a prophecy about Egypt. In it, Egypt is judged and given a harsh ruler. This ruler will be so harsh that the Egyptians will cry out to the God of Israel, and He will help them.
At the end of the chapter, is a beautiful vision of a united Middle East worshiping the One God together.
In that day there will be a highway from Egypt to Assyria. The Assyrians will go to Egypt and the Egyptians to Assyria. The Egyptians and Assyrians will worship together. In that day Israel will be the third, along with Egypt and Assyria, a blessing on the earth. The LORD Almighty will bless them, saying, “Blessed be Egypt my people, Assyria my handiwork, and Israel my inheritance.” –Isaiah 19:23-25
What to pray
- Window of mercy of Middle East to stay open as long as possible. That Satan not close it prematurely.
- Pray for believers in Lebanon and Egypt: protection, grace, wisdom, peace, hiddenness in God.
- The fulfillment of Isaiah 19:23-25, when Egypt, Israel and Assyria (that would include Turkey, Iran, Syria, Lebanon and more) would live in peace and in the pleasure of God.
